Background
One hundred years ago, St. Clair Avenue West was Toronto's northern city limit. Not much more than a dirt road through farmland with few commercial or residential buildings. The first streetcar heralded the beginning of the neighbourhood’s development and the creation of a thriving and diverse community. This year, the WBCA is presenting a range of programming in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the St. Clair Streetcar and the Wychwood Carhouse. We hope that this project will become a source of pride and a tremendous resource for generations to come.
The Wychwood Barns Community Association is an independent volunteer-managed not-for-profit community organization located at the Artscape Wychwood Barns in Toronto. The WBCA is committed to serving the neighbourhoods surrounding the Barns and puts on events for community engagement and enjoyment and creates opportunities for the community to celebrate and learn about the rich history of the Barns site.
